MISS CATHERINE ADAMS DIES OF PARALYSIS
Well Known Chester Lady Passes Away at Home of Sister, Mrs. J. J. Douglas
Miss Catherine Adams, daughter of the late David Adams, was born near Chester January 22, 1847, and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. J. Douglas, Oct. 8, 1928, at 9:45 p.m., at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 14 days. Miss Adams had been ailing for the past year and Friday was stricken with paralysis, which was the cause of her death. She grew to womanhood on a farm near Chester, but in the later years of her life she has made her home with her sister, Mrs. J. J. Douglas. Miss Adams was a member of the Presbyterian church of this city and was always very devoted to her faith, being always ready to help, never tiring in doing good to others. She had a most loving and kind disposition and always approved of the higher ideals in life.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the J. J. Douglas residence, officiated by Dr. F. T. Roberts, interment in the Evergreen cemetery, six nephews of the deceased acting as pall bearers: Everett, Elmer, and Robert Douglas, Charles, Albert and William Adams.
Aunt Kate visited her sister Joan Adam Steinberg in Lebanon, Missouri, and was known to her nieces and nephews.
