Alfred Aho was born in Lappajarvi, Finland on September 3, 1888, the son of Henry and Mary Aho. He grew up in Finland and came to New York in 1905. On May 25, 1907 he was united in marriage to Hanna Forsti in Chatham, Michigan. In 1913 they came to their present farm in Urness Township. He was a member of the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church of Moe Township. In the fall of 1969 and part of 1970, Mr. and Mrs. Aho lived in the village of Brandon. Mrs. Aho passed away on March 29, 1970. For the past seven months Mr. Aho was a resident of Crestview Manor, Evansville, Minnesota, where he passed away on April 1, 1971 at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 29 days.

He is survived by eight daughters: Senja (Mrs. Charles Bine) of Minneapolis; Olga (Mrs. Oscar Anderson) of Brandon; Lillian (Mrs. Frank Dulban) of Minneapolis; Esther (Mrs. E. L. Brewer) of San Diego, Calif.; Mayme (Mrs. Lloyd Hokanson) of Evansville; Aune (Mrs. Ford Thornton) of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Helen Stigen of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Signe (Mrs. Robert Krafthefer) of Alexandria. Also surviving is one sister Hilda Sateharju and one brother Victor, both living in Finland. He was preceded in death by his wife, four daughters, parents, three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were Monday, April 5, 1971 at 2 p.m. at Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church, Moe Twp. Rev. George Wilson, New York Mills, Minn., officiating. Pallbearers were Al Bine, Francis Anderson, Ron Dulban, Harlan Hokanson, David Stigen, Douglas Stigen. Interment was at Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church, Moe Twp.
