Horace Smith, 92, formerly of Massena, NY, most recently of Fremont, OH, died at Elmwood Assisted Living on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Horace was born September 21, 1921 in Russell, NY, the son of Fay and Nettie (Reed) Smith. He worked as a union electrician in the New York and New Jersey. In May of 1952 he married Carolyn Hartford, she survives. Horace was a member of Emmanuel Congregational Church in Massena, the Masonic Order of Massena and Electrical Union Local 910 out of Watertown, NY.Together with his wife he enjoyed traveling the United States and Panama in their motorhome, spending a summer in Alaska and wintering in Florida. Horace also enjoyed working on his property and chopping wood. Surviving is his wife Carolyn of Fremont, OH, daughter: Nancy (John) O' Connor of Fremont, OH; son, Roger Smith of Massena, NY; grandchildren: Molly O'Connor, Morgan O'Connor, Brittany (Rob) Kauscher; great-grandson Henry Kauscher. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Smith and numerous siblings.Burial will take place at a later date in Herman Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Congregational Church or Hospice of Memorial Hospital, 430 S.
