Mary Emma was the youngest child of William and Mary (Phinney - sometimes spelled Finney or Feeney) Bristow. She was married to Ralph Waldo Birch and had a son Phillip John and daughter Ralpha Wilma Birch.
She divorced Ralph April 21, 1924, and married Arthur Christian Ernst on 23 September 1929. Arthur died in June 1943. While married they lived in Marysville. Mary Emma later moved to Roseville. During her last year or so of life, due to poor health, she was admitted to a Skilled Nursing Facility near Davis until her death in 1969.
