Burial: 6/8/1965. Medical Dept. WW II. Russell Bonham Grubaugh was born in 1902 to James Arthur Grubaugh and Estella T. Bonham. He was the oldest of their four children. Russell spent his early years in Mansfield, but moved to Marion, OH before 1920. He married Vera Alice Shoots in Marion County, OH on 26 Oct 1930. They had just one child, James Shoots Grubaugh (1931-2012). Sometime between 1936 and 1940, Russell and Vera divorced. She is listed separately (as divorced) in the 1940 census and their son, James, is listed in 1940 with Vera's parents in Pennsylvania. Neither Russell or Vera remarried.

I don't have an obituary for Russell, but I do have a newspaper article written in December 1903. Since he was only a year and a half old, he likely received some help from his parents -

Mansfield News, December 22, 1903
Dear Santa Claus: As I am a very good little boy thought I would write to tell you what I want for Christmas. Please bring me a drum, a new dress, a Christmas tree, a stockingette cap, some candy, oranges, bananas and anything else you think would be nice. From your little boy, Russell Bonham Grubaugh, 238 W. Fifth Street.

Bio from another member.

Contrary to info above, he apparently was married again in 1943 (Ohio County Marriages file on Ancestry).
