Mr. Smith died April 15 at age 91. He was born June 14, 1903 in Tisdale, Kan.
He was an engineer and served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A U.S. Army veteran, he had the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He lived in Seattle from 1950 to 1990, when he returned to Portland.
Surviving are his wife, Edith I.; sons, Donald C. of Renton, Wash., and Monte L. of Portland; daughter, Patricia Walden of Medford; sister, Sarah Lambert of San Jose, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Interment in Willamette National Cemetery.
