FREDERICK J. BAUER, 89, Botkins, died at 5:30 p.m. April 19, 2005, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home, Wapakoneta. He was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Botkins to Alphons and Agnes Buehler Bauer, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 27, 1947, he married Pauline Mosler, who died Jan. 31, 2000. Mr. Bauer owned and operated the Anna Hardware for 30 years. He also had a saw sharpening business and had worked at Schnippel Construction Co. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. He was a member of American Legion Post 446, Anna. He was a graduate of Botkins High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He enjoyed working as a handyman. Survivors include six sons, Ron (Julie) Bauer of Wapakoneta, Alan (Sharon) Bauer of Houston, Texas, David (Jennie) Bauer of Dayton, James (Dana) Bauer of Reno, Nev., Steven (Susan) Bauer of Wapakoneta and John (Rosemary) Bauer of Botkins; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Borchers of Fort Loramie; and a sister-in-law, Jean Bauer of Botkins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Bauer; and a sister, Sister Ruth Marie Bauer. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. The Rev. Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
