verett C. "Jim" LaForce, 92 of Kingsport, entered Heavens rest on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014, after years of declining health.

He was the oldest child of the late Dewey and Grace LaForce of Clinchfield, VA. Jim was a WWII Veteran serving in the South Pacific in the Navy Seabees. He was an avid shark fisherman while he and his family lived in Jacksonville, Florida for 30 years. After retiring, he returned to Kingsport. He liked watching NASCAR and loved the Atlanta Braves, but most of all, he became a born again Christian later in life.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, brothers, Carl and Cecil; and one sister, Vivian Hurd.

Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Judy and her husband, Don McMurray of Kingsport, Penny Balanky of Naples, Florida and Kay LaForce of Atlantic Beach, Florida; two grandsons, Marcus Balanky of Newport Beach, California, and Bret Balanky of Naples, Florida; brothers, Lon and Pete LaForce; sisters, Phyllis Williams, Joyce Owens, Wanda Webb, Frances Winebarger, Janice Helton and Carol Jean Watkins; and many nieces and nephews.

Military graveside services will be held on Monday, September 8th, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Garden of The Resurrection at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Rick Roop, officiating. Conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post # 3, Gate City Post # 265 and the Tennessee National Guard or the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.

A very special thank you goes to the staff and NP Jewel on the 400 and 500 wing of Wexford House for their kindness and support during his brief visit.

The staff of Oak Hill Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations is honored to serve the family of Everett "Jim" LaForce.
