PAMPLICO — Trize Van Purvis, 81, died Monday, May 1, 2006, in a Florence hospice facility after an illness.
Mr. Purvis was born in Florence County, a son of the late Whiteford Leo Purvis and the late Mary Elizabeth Turner Purvis Timmons. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and went on to retire from Florence County Public Works. Mr. Purvis was a member of Unity Original Free Will Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Lee H. Purvis of the home; a son, Jerry Van (Olivia I.) Purvis of Darlington; a daughter, Gail P.(James L. Buddy) Stone of Pamplico; four grandchildren, Cory Purvis, Brandi P. Larrimore, Tina S. Chastain and Jamie E. Stone; seven great-grandchildren, Nick Purvis, Henry Purvis, Hunter McElveen, Westly Larrimore, Tiffany Larrimore, Carly E. Chastain and Leah E. Stone; four sisters, Eulene Baggott, Minnie Humphrey and Lillian Bigelow, all of Florence, and Ireane Ritch of Hartsville; and a brother, Whiteford L. Purvis of Pamplico.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. today at Unity Original Free Will Baptist Church with interment following in Prosser Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway.
