Mittie was born January 25, 1916 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Robert David and Martha Ann Grant Evans.
She married Lester Luker on June 30, 1936 in Paris, Arkansas. In the late 1950's the couple moved to Coffeyville. They later opened Luker's Fast Stop and Laundromat, which they operated until retirement. Mr. Luker preceded her in death on May 29, 2004.
She was also a homemaker where she loved and cared for her family.
She was a member of the Lewark Church of God, past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star both of Coffeyville; Business and professional women's organization.
She is survived by one son, Lester "Doug" Luker of Coffeyville, Kansas; 3 grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester; one daughter, Janice Thomas; one grandson Ricky Thomas; 4 brothers, Earl, Grady, Virgil and Cecil 2 half brothers Henry and Andrew and 1 sister Christine Ortkies.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas. Rev. J.D. Wright of the Lewark Church of God, Coffeyville, Ks. will be officiating.
Family and friends will gather at the graveside for services.
Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville.
