Letha Lucille Thompson, age 89, of Edina, Missouri, died Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

She was born September 10, 1918, in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Alonzo Lincoln and Ora Natilee Ross Pinson.
On December 24, 1940, she was united in marriage to Perley Thompson and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1980.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Edwin Campbell Pinson, Paul Cooper Pinson, Albert Ross Pinson, Marion Leroy Pinson, and Robert Ray Pinson, three sisters Mary Whitmire, Mildred Dorothy Green, and Leona Slane.

Surviving are five children, Donald Thompson and wife Karen of Brashear, Missouri, Lawrence Ray (Toby) Thompson and wife Darla of Gladstone, Illinois, David Thompson of Edina, Missouri, Louise Ann Moots of Hurdland, Missouri, Mary Jean Stanton and husband Larry of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, one sister Alma Rosalie Clary of Troy, Missouri, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Thompson was raised in Knox County where she received her education. She was a housewife and homemaker. She was employed for several years in the Hotel in Edina, and assisted her husband in the Assessors office in Edina for several years.

She enjoyed scrabble, puzzles, flowers, yard sales and spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Reverend Allen Davidson officiated the services. Burial was in the Linville Cemetery in Edina. Casket bearers were Daniel Moots, Chad Clair, Roger Thompson, Bryan Thompson, Alan Howes and Lucas Stanton. Honorary bearers were Koty Hayden, Sam Clary, Joe Williams, John Weis, Luke Russell and Joe Dixon, James Thompson.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Letha Lucille Thompson may be made to the Linville Cemetery or Knox County Nutrition Center. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
