Orville L. Edwards
Orville Lewis Edwards, 67, of Edina, died at his residence in Edina Thursday afternoon, October 3, 1985.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 5, 1985, at 2 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, with the Rev. Ronald Gardner of Edina officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Kathy Tournear and Mrs. Mary Lynn Baucom.
The son of Bert and Mina McCoy Edwards, he ws born July 27, 1918, in Rutledge.
On September 18, 1941, at Edina, Missouri, he married Irene Peters, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James R. Moore of Trenton; two brothers, Calvin of Rutledge and Charles Donald "Doc" of LaBelle, two sisters, Mrs. Sam "Leona" Peters of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Ethel Hustead of Edina and three grandchildren, Russell Dean, Monte Lewis and Holly Rae Moore and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one brother, Lester.
Edwards was reared in Rutledge, where he attended school. He had been employed as an auto mechanic by automobile agencies in Edina and Knox City. He served with the United States Army from June 20, 1942 through September 12, 1945, in the Central European Campaign. After his discharge from the military service he was employed by Allis-Chalmers as a service manager, in Edina and was later transfered to St. Louis in 1947. In 1968, he was transfered to Wisconsin in sales promotion. Due to health reasons, he took an early retirement and returned to Edina where he made his home.
He ws a member of the Knox City American Legion Post No. 358.
Military graveside services were held by the Knox City American Legion Post No. 358 in the Linville Cemetery in Edina.
Casket bearers were Donald Blake, Harold Comley, Delbert Hawkins, Frank HAmlin, John Matlock and Jack Vaughn.
