EDWARDS-MASON WEDDING.
Miss Hortense Mason, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mason, south of Edina, and Lester Edwards, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Edwards, near La Belle, were married Saturday afternoon in Shelbina. The Rev. Jas. L. Shoemaker, of Shelbina, performed the ceremony.
The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. George Wiable, of Shelbina, and Johnnie Mason, a brother of the bride, and Miss Mabel Rhoades, of Novelty a friend.
Mrs. Edwards is a graduate of the Novelty high school and she has had employment in St. Louis and Burlington, la., the last few years.
Mr. Edwards was discharged in October after having been about 5 years in the service and about 30 months of that time in the Pacific area. A mechanic in the employment of Reynolds & Burkhart, garage men and implement dealers at Rutledge before entering the service, he has returned to his former work since receiving his discharge. He has bought a home in Rutledge and he and his bride expect to begin housekeeping there next week.
A 6 o'clock wedding dinner was given Sunday evening in honor of the newly wedded couple at the home of the brides parents to forty-four relatives. One of the pretty and pleasing features of the dinner was a large 3-tier wedding cake adorned on its top with a miniature bride and bridegroom.
In the evening following the dinner the bride and bridegroom were charivaried and presented with many nice gifts. Then on Monday evening they were showered with more nice gifts at the Mason home by friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwards left on Tuesday morning on a wedding trip to the home of the bridegrooms sister, Mrs. Sam Peters, at Stronghurst, Illinois. They were accompanied to Edina by Mrs. Ballinger, a great-aunt of the bride, who had been at the Mason home since Friday. — Edina Sentinel.
