She is now with her eternal companion, Omer Morris, who has waited patiently twenty-six years for this reunion. Together, they raised nine children, each of whom considers themselves blessed beyond measure.
Our mother was one of those rare individuals whose warmth, quick wit, infectious smile, and positive attitude drew people immediately to her. She loved and was loved by all.
Eight years after dad passed away, mom was fortunate to find a loving companion in Bill Matthews. They spent sixteen happy years together. Fourteen of those years were spent working side by side in the LDS Missionary Department, which brought them great joy.
Survived by children, Kevin (Uyen), David, Todd (Dianne), Shelley Smith, Margaret (Randy) Smith Gorringe, Rick (Charmaine), Carol (Steve) Knight, and Wendy (John) Hyde; thirty-eight grandchildren, and thirty-six great-grandchildren, along with many step-grandchildren whom she loved as her own. Preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Nida Taggart; husband, Omer Morris; husband, Bill Matthews; twin sister, Carol Hauert; brother, Scott Taggart; daughter, Sue Taylor; son-in-law, Welden Smith; grandson, Tommy Knight; and great-grandson, Morgan Smith.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Boulevard (7600 South). The family prayer and closing of the casket will be held that evening at 8:30. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Butler Thirty-Third Ward Chapel, 1845 East 7200 South. Visiting with family will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
