Rockledge, Fla. - Frank Nemec, 87, of Melbourne died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Harborside Healthcare. He was the son of Norbert and Lily (Whittle) Nemec.

Born in New Bedford, he was a lifelong visitor to the area.

Mr. Nemec previously was a cook and subsequently a ship's steward for the Army Corps of Engineers for 36 years, serving on the ocean-going dredges WL Marshall, Atlantic, Goethals, Essayons, and Comber at ports on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. After retirement in 1966, he lived in New Bedford and was a cook at the North Fairhaven Sea Grill for several years. He moved to Miami and later to Melbourne where he lived for 12 years.

He spent many of those years gardening, fishing, and travelling.

Survivors include two sisters, Ethel M. Potkay of Fairhaven Mass., and Ruby M. Delisolla of Medford, Mass.; a niece and three nephews; and a close companion of many years, Bertha Milnes of Philadelphia.

Arrangements were by the South Brevard Funeral Home, 1001 S. Hickory St., Melbourne.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
