James Lawrence Barbee, age 86, of Louisville, IL, passed away at 3:04 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Good Samaritan Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.

James was born May 23, 1926 in Blair Township, Clay County, IL, the son of Victor Ray Barbee and Bertha Rae (Hord) Barbee.

He married Margaret Mae (Lewis) Barbee at their home in Bible Grove, IL on May 4, 1947 and to this union two sons and one daughter were born.

He spent his time as a factory worker and retired from Fedders Company in Effingham, IL. He was a member of the Red Brush Christian Church and was in the church leadership for 47 years.

James is survived by sons, Larry Barbee and wife Betty of Louisville, Victor Ray Barbee and wife Erma Pearl of Louisville; daughter Loretta Sue Goebel and husband Jerry of Lexington, KY; brother, Rolla "Wally" Barbee and wife Bonnie of Louisville; brother-in-law, Paul Rose of Flora; sister, Betty Adams of Effingham; sister-in-law, Fern Barbee of Flora; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Victor Ray and Bertha Rae Barbee; brothers, Victor Barbee and Donald "Bud" Barbee; infant brother, Emery Barbee; and sisters, Millie Rose, Helen Wilson and Lois Barbee.

Arrangements were handled by J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville, IL.

The funeral service was held at the Red Brush Christian Church.

Interment was at Red Brush Cemetery in Louisville, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be received at the funeral home.
