"BOYCEVILLE MAN FATALLY HURT WHEN BADLY TRAMPLED BY HORSE.
Wm. Wakefield, 73, was fatally injured Saturday morning, when he was kicked and trampled by a horse in the stall. He had been taking care of about 20 horses, in the old livery barn here, that are owned by Dr. Jacobs of Knapp. Early Saturday Mr. Wakefield went to the barn. When he didn't return home for breakfast, his ten-year-old daughter, Goldean [Goldine] went to the barn at 1:30 and found him lying on the barn floor injured. She ran out in the street, crying and told some men her daddy was hurt. When aid reached him, they found he had been badly trampled by the horse. A physician and an ambulance were called at once and Mr. Wakefield, who was still conscious, was taken to the Menomonie hospital. After the examination, doctors there held no hope for his recovery, as his chest was badly crushed, his face was cut and bruised and his limbs were fractured."

"Mr. Wakefield was a very kind and loving husband and father, a great friend to all who knew him."
