PINE VILLAGE - Joseph Staten Bayless, 69, of Rt. 5, Attica, died at 6 PM Saturday [Aug. 11, 1984] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, following a two-week illness. Born June 28, 1915, in Warren County, he was reared and educated near Pine Village, and attended Pine Village High School. He married Esta Frances Hildenbrand on Feb. 6, 1939, in Shelbyville, IN; she survives.

Mr. Bayless had farmed in Warren County, and for 33 years worked in the Tube Mill at Alcoa Aluminum Co., retiring in 1972. He attended Pine Village United Methodist, and was a member of the Alcoa 25-Year Club.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Larry Joe Bayless of Williamsport and Dennis Gene Bayless of rural Attica; a daughter, Jan Bayless of Lafayette; a brother, Alva Lee Bayless of Frankfort; two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Francis) Verhey of Attica and Mrs. Frances Dennoe of rural West Lafayette; and five grandchildren. Preceded in death by two half-brothers.
