Laura was born October 23, 1923, on her parents' ranch southeast of Devine. She grew up, attending school in Devine. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church her entire life. Following her marriage to John Chestney Maney, they lived in Natalia, where they reared their family of three daughters. Laura was a vital part of the Natalia community. She worked with the U.S. Postal Service in Natalia for 38 years, during which time she was Postmaster for 30 years. Thus, she had day-to-day interaction with individuals and organizations throughout the region.
Laura was preceded in death by: Her husband, John Chestney Maney. Her parents, Alex Louis Paul Bohl and Dora Pauline Schneider Bohl. Her brothers and sisters-in-law: George Alex Bohl (wife, Tessie); Richard Jacob Bohl (wife, Barbara). Her sister and brother-in-law: Margie Kathryn Bohl Irwin (husband, Pete).
Laura is survived by her daughters: Kathleen Janis Maney Ingram, of Natalia; Mary Frances Maney Lowrance (husband, Tim), of Jasper, Texas; Barbara Gayle Maney Maxwell (husband, Ronnie), of Devine. Grandchildren: John Wayne Maxwell (wife, Janie); Kristie Maxwell Johnson (husband, Mark); Carol Lowrance McKee (husband, Stephen); Brian Lowrance (wife, Rachel). Great-grandchildren: Ashley McKee, Madelyn Johnson, Ashlyn Johnson, and Audrie Lowrance.
Visitation was held in Hurley Funeral Home Chapel in Devine Friday, September 27, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Robert Ploch in St. Joseph Catholic Church Saturday, September 28, 2013. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Devine, Texas
