P. P. Burke Dies
Liberty Hill, Texas, Oct. 11.
The body of P.P. Burke, who died at Hominy, Okla., Saturday, arrived yesterday and was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.H. Gardner, from where the funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock. He was born in 1840 and came to Texas from Arkansas when 5 years of age. For a number of years he was one of the leading stockmen and farmers of this section and did much in the early days for the development of the country. He was the father of eight children, seven of whom are still living, and the last few years he has made his home with a widowed daughter in Oklahoma. The children and grandchildren from a distance to attend the funeral were Harry Burke of Hominy, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. J. Johnson of Pawhuska, Okla.; Mr and Mrs. H.H. Johnson and daughter of Austin.

Peter Presley Burke Served Four and A Half Years in Confederate Army

Peter Presley Burke died at the home of his son west of the city yesterday. Funeral services will be held at the home of a daughter, Mrs. T. W. Price, in this city, this afternoon at 4, conducted by Rev, Sample. The body will be take n to Liberty Hill, Texas, for interment beside his wife, who died in Pawhuska eight years ago.

Mr. Burke was born in Arkansas March 26, 1840 and was thus 82 years, six months, and 11 days old. At an early age, he removed to Texas with his parents where he later enlisted in the Confederate Army, serving four and a half years. He was married on March 10, 1869, to Miss Winnifred W. Smith and to this union nine children were born of whom seven survive. In addition to Mrs. Price, living in this city, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Wilkerson and Mrs. G. M. Vann live in Texas. Mr. Burke had twenty-nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, the last named being all boys.

Mr. Burke has been a member of the Masonic lodge for many years. The body will be shipped at six o'clock Monday morning.

P. P. Burke, age 82 years, a farmer residing with his son, Harry Burke, of this city, died Saturday of ailments incident to extreme age.

Funeral services were held at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Price, in this city, Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, officiated over by the Rev. O. L. Sample, pastor of the First Methodist Church.

The body will leave here on the 6:10 Midland Valley passenger train, accompanied by Harry Burke, for Liberty Hill, Texas, where interment will occur.

Burke had resided here many years. Mrs. Burke died some eight or nine years ago. The deceased leaves a family of seven children, two of whom, Mrs. Price and Harry Burke, reside in Pawhuska.
