Born on a farm near Bruce on December 19, 1882, he came to Brookings in 1898. In 1923 Mr. Olson became Secretary-Treasurer of the Brookings Building & Loan association, which has grown to be one of the outstanding institutions of its kind in the northwest. For many years he served as an officer of the South Dakota League of Building and Loan associations and at the time of his death was president.
He attended the S.D. State College 1901-1903 and Loland Business University in LaCrosse, Wisc 1903-1904. He operated the "Bee Hive" store in Brookings with this father from 1904-1919. He married Clara Annette Winjum on June 11, 1915. He is survived by his wife Clara, and his two sons: Edward and Gordon. Burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.
