Mary E. Watkins, 87, of Quincy, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Meadow Lake of Mooresville. She was born on June 13, 1926 in Harlan County, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Lewis G. and Rhoda Catherine (Gibbons) Greene.

She was married to Cleo R. Watkins on July 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1999.

She is survived by her children, Pamela June Strielmeier and husband, Jimmy, of Memphis, Tennessee, Russell M. Watkins of Solsberry, Steven C. Watkins and wife, Brenda, of Plainfield, James I. Watkins of Martinsville, and Gerald "Jerry" A. Watkins and wife, Laura, of Quincy; her sister, Lois Kimberly of Washington; her brother, William Greene and wife, Anna, of Cloverdale; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Alaska Christian Church and had served as a cook at the Putnam County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mannan Cemetery.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Caroline Shoopman, Dorothy Muncy, John C. Greene, Donald V. Greene, Melvin Greene, Millard Greene, Lewis G. Greene and seven other siblings.
