Champaign Man Dies In Truck Crash
ARCOLA, Ill. -- A one-vehicle accident on Route 130 one mile south of U.S. Route 36 claimed the life of Leslie Doyle "Bill" Woods, 43, of Champaign about midnight Monday as he was returning to his home in Champaign from Charleston.
Authorities stated that he apparently lost control of his panel truck. It left the highway, struck a tree and burned.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Arcola Cemetery. The Shrader Funeral Home of Arcola is in charge.
Mr. Woods was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Newton, the son of Everett and Velora Woods. He married Nettie Lavonne Wright of Arcola Nov. 2, 1946.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, James Doyle in the Navy and Danny Allen at home; his mother of Charleston; his father of Robinson; two brothers, Donald of Charleston and Ernest of Phoenix, Ariz; and one sister, Helen of Calif.
Mr. Woods was a painter at Chanute Air Force Base. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge, all in Champaign.
