Helene Alexander (1895-1930)

Funeral services were held Sunday morning at nine o'clock for Helen Alexander, who dies last Thursday morning in Chicago. The impressive Eastern Star service was held at the grave. Pallbearers were Paul Briggs, Otto Behmer, R. W. Lee, W. W. Armstrong, A. H. Schlutz, and T. E. Doling.

Interment was made in Waterman cemetery.

Miss Alexander grew to young womanhood in Sutherland and was very well and favorably known. During her school days she was one of the most popular students, completing her work in the high school and then attending the University of Iowa. Since her school days she has lived at worked in Illinois cities.

1895 - Helene Alexander -1930

Helene Alexander, the older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Alexander, was born at Sutherland, Iowa, October 25, 1895, and passed away August 7, 1930, in Chicago.

She was graduated form the Sutherland high school in 1912, and attended the University of Iowa for two years. During the war she did mechanical drawing and drafting at the Arsenal at Rock Island, Ill., and from that time until her death she was in the employ of the Foster Information Bureau in Chicago.

Her health had been poor for several years, but her condition was not known to be so serious.

While at work Wednesday afternoon, she was stricken with a heart attack, and died Thursday morning at one o'clock at the Osteopathic hospital.

She is survived by her mother, one sister, Mrs. M. R. Robinson of Chicago and two brothers, Ellis of Milwaukee and Myrl of Davenport.

Her father died in December 1928.
