Mr. John Burchell, 65 years of age, of this locality, passed into eternity on the afternoon of January 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Royalty. He had been suffering from consumption for years and death came as a great relief. Mr. Burchell was first married to Miss Mattie Smock, and his second wife was Miss Kate Ingram, and to this union one son was born, Leon Burchell, of Dayton, O., and to the second, two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Biggerstaff, of Lexington, and Mrs. Mary Diamond, of Charleston, West Virginia, all of whom were present at the funeral and burial. Besides his children he is survived by two brothers, Robert Burchell, of Lexington, and Abe Burchell, of Burgin, and two sisters, Mrs. John Hopper, of Shaker Bend, and Mrs. Rollin Curd, of Burgin. He had been an attendant at Shawnee Run since a young man, and at his request his remains were laid to rest in Shawnee Run cemetery Sunday afternoon, after funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. D. Moore.
