Gynith was my first cousin.
She was the daughter of Mary Alberta Simon and Otha Grimmett. Gynith's mother, Alberta (as she was always called) was my father's sister.
She was born at Crane, Missouri and passed away in Michigan at the age of 91 years.
Gynith was only 13 years old when her mother died. She was raised by an aunt & uncle and eventually moved to Michigan, her sister Floella was raised by another aunt in Missouri and their brother, Fenton, stayed with their father who eventually remarried.
Gynith married Kenneth Simmonds on January 22, 1939 in Otisville, MO. They were married for 49 years until his death in 1988. To this union were born 4 children: Kenneth Dale, Jerry Lee, Karen Kay and Marlene Lynn. Marlene (wife of Ed Bearup) is also buried here at Cottage Cemetery.
Gynith was a wonderful cook and operated her own catering service for many years.

Age 91, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Pines of Burton. A funeral service will be held at 11AM Monday, Sept 3, 2012 at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E. Mt Morris Rd. Rev Gene Smith officiating with burial in Cottage Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 12 noon until 8PM Sunday at the funeral home. Gynith will lie in state at the Church from 10AM Monday until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions in her memory to Richfield Nazarene Church Children's Nursery.
