wILLIAM NORRIS OF THIS CITY GOES TO FINAL REST
****
Came to Pparowan in '63. Was an upright, honest and unassuming man and was held in high esteem.
****
Another of our aged citizens was called to the Great Beyond a week ago last Monday morning, namely William Norris, who had been ailing for some months past with the troulbes incident to old age, having reach the advanced age of eighty years.
He was born in Bristol, England, September, 1836. He joined the Latterday Saints church while a young man and remained firm in that faith until his death.
He came to Utah in 1835 and made Parowan his home and resided here ever since. He married Harriet jackson, and from the union was born six sons and seven daughters. His wife preceded him to the other shore some years ago, and since her death his daughter, Mrs. Harriet Decker has ministered to his wants, and made him confortable in his declining years.
William Norris held several positions of trust, among them being city treasurer, and justice of the peace. He was an upright, unassuming, industrious man, and highly respected by all who were acquainted with him.
Funeral services were held in the tabernacle Oct. 20, and the following gentlemen spoke of the deceased, and offered condolences and sympathy to those who are left to mourn: Silas J. War, James Ollerton and Morgan Richards. A sacred duet was rendered by Miss Ada McGregor and Lawrence Adams.
