Hattie Norris Decker Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. Hattie Norris Decker, wife of Mahonri M. Decker of this city, passed from this life at the family residence on Tuesday afternoon of this week after a long illness. She leaves her husband, three daughters, and two sons together with five grown step-children who loved her as a mother, to mourn her passing.

To them the sympathy of the entire community goes out at this time. Because of some difficulty with our typesetting machine, we are having to hold an account of the funeral, biography and a card of thanks from the family until next weeks issue.

BIOGRAPHICAL

Harriet Elizabeth Norris Decker was born on March 1, 1881. Her parents were William and Harriet Jackson Norris. She was reared in this community and was married on May 31, 1905 to M.M. Decker. Six children were born to them, five of whom, Fae, Blanch, Florence, Woodrow and Alpine, together with her husband, four brothers and a sister survive her.

She was active in public affairs and especially so in church affairs until her failing health, caused by poison goiter, prevented. Nothing speaks more for her as a devoted wife and morther than the fact that five step-children, some of them grown, thought the world of her, and more than one of them so expressed themselves while they were still living at home.

Her brothers Alvin H., Frank and Clair, and the latter's wife and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Decker were among those who came for the funeral.
