Cora was a graduate of Norwin Union High School in Irwin PA and attended Godwin Business College in East Liberty PA. She was briefly married to William Stokes before enlisting in the Navy and serving as a WAVE during WWII. She attended "Boot Camp" at Indiana University in Bloomington and during her service attained the rank of Storekeeper, Third Class (Disbursing). Cora met husband, Joe Vernell Davis, while working in the Disbursing Office at NAS Hutchinson, KS. She raised three children as a Navy wife and lived in Pensacola FL and Lillian AL for over fifty years.
