Hattie was born on January 21, 1920 in Centerville, Georgia. She was a charter member of Solid Rock Community Church. Hattie retired from the Peach County Board of Education after working at Byron Elementary School lunchroom as a cook and server. In her retirement she continued serving others by spending time with her family and taking care of the elderly. Her parents, Homer and Addie Leverett, and her husband, Howell Steve Ammons, all preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Leverett Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to either Solid Rock Community Church, 401 Thomson Road, Centerville, GA, 31028; Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Care, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, GA, 31069; or Compassionate Care, 4900 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA, 31210.
