He attended Shenandoah Wesleyan Church, was a retired driver for Morton's Frozen Foods Crozet and was a member of the Teamsters local number of Crozet.
Born in Pulaski Dec. 3. 1924. he was the son of the late Harry N. Hitchings and Iva Jewel Cutlip Hitchings.
He is survived by his wife. Dorothy Prater Hitchings one daughter Mrs. Stanley (Ronnie) Maxie. Roanoke: and three grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister. Mrs. Irene II. Gregory, of Indian Harbor Beach. Fla.: four half-brothers. Edward J. Hitchings. Hague: Carl L. Cutlip. Hyattsville. Md.; Harold K. Cutlip. Pulaski: and Daniel W. Cutlip. Hyattsville: three half-sisters. Mrs. Hattie H. Cahoon. Norfolk: Mrs. Ada H. Yates. Norfolk: Mrs. Elizabeth H. Reiter, of Wilmington. Del.: one aunt Mrs. Martha Purcell Hitchings. Norfolk, and a number of neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's North Chapel in Roanoke at I p.m. Monday conducted by the Rev. J.C. Yarborough, the Rev. Stanley W. Weisbrod. and the Rev. George Puffenbarger. Burial will be in the Thornspring Cemetery in Pulaski at it p.m. Friends may call al Oakey's North Chapel.
