Born in Karlshuld bei Neuberg, Bavaria, the daughter of Ignatz and Seraphina (Winnegger) Ebenhoch. Married to Casper Spreng, a widower, and immigrated to America on 15 July 1890 on the ship Werra, accompanied by her husband, three children and her aged parents. Mother of Marian, Grace, Joseph, Frances, Michael and Arthur.

Akron Beacon Journal, Friday, 2 October 1925:

"SPRENG -- Mary, age 62 years, the wife of Casper Spreng, 577 Sherman st. died Thursday evening at City hospital. Besides her husband she is survived by six children; Mrs. James McVeigh of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mrs. Lud Givler, Joseph, Grace, Michael and Arthur, all of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Shieber and Mrs. Frances Schratzenstaller, and one brother, Jacob Ebenhoch, and four grandchildren. She was a member of the Order of Martha, the Bavarian Lodge, and the Herman Sisters. Funeral services Monday, 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's church. Interment in Holy Cross cemetery."
