Notes for JOHN HENRY "TWIN" KITZMILLER:
John Henry Kitzmiller was a Sgt. 10th WV Vol. Infantry Co. I -- this was in
the same company as his brother-in-law James Jarboe.
______________

Military records of Sgt. John H. Kitzmiller that contain the following
interesting information:
"Age 20, Height 5 feet and 8 inches, Complexion light, Eyes blue, Hair dark,
Where born - Hardy Co., VA, Occupation - farmer. Enlistment Information,
When - April (?) 1, 1862, Where - Greenland (?), By Whom - Capt. Jarboe,
Term - 3 years. Captured at High Bridge, VA April 6, 1865. Escaped April
10. Reported at Annapolis, MD April 17, 1865. Sent from Camp Chase for
Muster out April 28, 1865. Mustered out by reason of completion of tour of
duty" There is one more note in his records about his payment for service,
but this one is almost illegible. In one area it is clear that the muster
out date of April 28 is deemed "erroneous" and the real muster out date is
May 9, 1865.
