George R. Hutchinson, 92, of Alexandria passed away Monday, July 4, 1955, at 4:45 p.m. at his home. Death was unexpected. The deceased was born June 3, 1863 in Huntingdon County, a son of Remond and Barbara (Rudy) Hutchinson. He was twice married, the first union being to Mary Ellen Piper, who preceded him in death in 1911. The second marriage was to Byrd Fisher, who preceded him in death in 1941.Hutchinson was a member of the Alexandria Methodist Church and the Modern Woodman of the World. He was an honorary member of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Company and had served on the Alexandria Borough Council for many years. The deceased, widely-known and highly-respected was always quite active in church and civic affairs. Immediately prior to his retirement he was a salesman for the Basalt Trap Rock Company.
These children survive: Dr. Fred Hutchinson of Huntingdon, Mrs. Mary Stein of Aldan and Mrs. Julian Hyer of Orlando, Florida. Four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Miss Ella Hutchinson of Huntingdon, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, at 2 p.m. in the Grove funeral home in Alexandria. The Rev. John T. T. Cummings, pastor of the Tyrone Methodist Church and a former pastor of the Methodist Church in Alexandria, will officiate and interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of services.
