John Hutchison, aged 67 years, a widely known resident of Alexandria, died at his home on Main street at 6 o'clock Saturday evening of acute indigestion. His death came suddenly, he having been engaged in work upon the state road near Water Street during the afternoon and in his usual state of health.
He was the first to die in a family of nine children, all of whom are well past two score and ten. He was the son of Redmond and Barbara Hutchison and was married twenty years to Miss Ella Goodman at Shavers Creek Valley. He had spent most of his life in Alexandria, where until 1885 he had engaged in the selling of farm implements.
Seven years ago he opened an implement store in Huntingdon in partnership with his son, Ralph, remaining there until four years ago, when he retired. Eight brothers and sisters survive as follows: Misses Martha, Mary, Ella and Mrs. W.H. Wertz, all of Huntingdon; George and David, of Alexandria; T.J., also of Huntingdon, and W.M. of New York city.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment in the Presbyterian cemetery in Alexandria.
