Bernard E Owens November 4, 1919 ~ December 31, 2007 Bernard E Owens, age 88, passed away on December 31, 2007 in Delta, Utah. He was born on November 4, 1919 in Oasis, Utah to Andy Ray & Lilly Josephine Hortt Owens. He married Bonnie Marie Rose on September 7, 1946 in Salt Lake City.
Bernard graduated from Delta High School.
He served his country in the US Army during World War II.
Bernard was a skilled finish carpenter. He was an inventor and held several patents. He loved writing poetry and listening to music. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He has served for many years in the American Legion Post #135 in the post of Historian and was on the committee for the selection of candidates for "Boy's State".
He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Owens; children: Bennett "Ben" E (Rosalie) Owens, Oak City; Kristina (Carl) Winfield, Nephi; Paula Marie (Rick) Dippold, Hennifer; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters: Flora Campbell, Salt Lake City; Shirley Skeem, Oasis; brother: Eugene H (Shirley) Owens, Midway. He was preceded in death by brothers: R Lavar Owens, James Henry Owens, Millard V Owens; sisters: Bernice Owens, Lilly Bethana Owens, Rayma Brush.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Nickle Mortuary in Delta. Friends called on Thursday morning at the mortuary from 10-11. Burial was in the Delta City Cemetery.
Family encourages donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society through an account in Zions Bank in Bernard's memory.
