JAMES E. CLANCY
James E. "Jim" Clancy, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. He was born March 9, 1921, to James William and Nettie Margaret (Urine) Clancy. He married Sarah Emma Loid (McSpadden) Clancy Jan. 9, 1942, in Wheatland, Okla. She survives. He graduated from high school in 1938 in Erick, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1943 as a quartermaster. He retired in 1971 after working for 36 years with Halliburton Services as an acid treating supervisor. He loved gardening, fishing and carpentry work. He is also survived by twin sons, Don Clancy and wife, Janice, Lawrence, and Ron Clancy, Liberal; two daughters, Pam Hollar and husband, Charles, Liberal, and Saundra McMullen and husband, Richard, Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Martin Clancy, Amarillo, Texas, and Elmer Clancy, Staten Island, N.Y. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Orville, and Burl Clancy, and one sister, Velma Harkins.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal with the Rev. Dr. Jack Jacob presiding. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Southern Baptist Church.
