Daughter of Janos Piller and Juliana Istenes Piller, born in Epleny, Veszprem, Hungary. She used the date 25 November as her birth date. That was actually her "name day" in the Hungarian tradition. It was not discovered until a record of her birth was obtained, long after her death, that this was discovered by her family. Like her family members she came to America in the turn of the century. She was a devoted Roman Catholic and was married to Sandor (Alexander) Kiraly at St Stephens Church in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio on 7 Jun 1905. She was a devoted wife and mother to one son. In 1910 when money was tight for the Kiraly household, Katie asked for help from the Father of her parish. They were turned down due to a difficult time in the economy for all the parish members. The Kiraly's never went back to the church.
Katherine was a strong willed woman, an awesome Hungarian cook and she believed that when a person dies they are reborn into that family again. She was a strong source of information for the Joseph Ferenc Kiraly Family Tree on Ancestry.com.
She was called Nan or Nanny by her grand children and great grandchildren.
Katalin was cremated and her ashes were scattered in the woods at Piney Knob. Piney Knob was the name of the property owned by Joseph Ferenc Kiraly and his wife Virginia Matilda Adams Kiraly, in Brasstown, North Carolina. Katherine lived at Piney Knob with Joe and Ginny until she was moved into a nursing home in Ducktown, Tenn. where she died.
