James W. "Jim" Ashworth, 89, of Gurley passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013. He has been a Church of Christ minister since 1964 he also served as a Deacon at West Huntsville Church of Christ and an elder at Gurley Church of Christ. He also served as a missionary in American Samoa. He was a former insurance agent for a number of years. Mr. Ashworth is survived by his wife Judy Carol Ashworth, daughters, Gayle (Lynn) King, Sandy Tilton (Pete Bredehoeft), sons Andy (Stacey) Ashworth, Matt (Sandy) Ashworth, four grandchildren, Karen King, Casey King, Ella Kathryn Ashworth and William Andrew Ashworth, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Visitation will be Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Berryhill Funeral Home. Funeral will be Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00am at Berryhill Funeral Home with Tommy Rosenblum, Tim Rice, Bill Cantrell and Tom Elkins officiating. Burial will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gurley Church of Christ. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
