Hattie Shern was born to John and Amelia Dusek January 29, 1894 on a farm near River Falls. Here she spent her early life and on May 22, 1912 she was united in marriage to John Andrle. The young couple lived in Diamond Bluff for a short time, then moved to the Cherma area. To this marriage a daughter Margaret was born, now Mrs. Emil Langer of River Falls. Mr. Andrle passed away at an untimely young age and Hattie married Mike Goodrich in 1920. To this marriage a daughter and son were born, Bernice and Donald. The daughter, now Mrs. Robert Balitz resides in Hastings, Minnesota and the son, resides in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. Mike Goodrich passed away in 1954 and Hattie married Edmund Ted Shern in 1958. She resided with her husband in River Falls until her death. Mr. Shern continues to reside in River Falls. She is also survived by 18 great grand children and 14 grandchildren. She will always be remembered by her family, relatives, neighbors and friends as having a good word and quite frequently, a very good lunch or dinner of kolaches for anyone who happened to be around.
