ABBOTT, Walter Leonard- (Age 92)-

Was born June 16, 1920 in Harrington, WA to Walter and Emily Abbott. He grew up in the Harrington area and graduated from Harrington High School in 1938. He entered the US Army on March 15, 1945 during WWII and was discharged on January 18, 1946. Leonard married Mary Hawley on June 24, 1967 in Davenport, WA and they had two children, Patrick and Mike. Leonard was a local farmer and cattleman. Leonard passed away March 23, 2013 in Davenport, WA. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Abbott at the home, three children from a prior marriage, Darlene (Jerry) Williamson, Donna Ray Hopkins, Darel (Judi) Abbott, his two sons, Patrick (Kristi) Abbott, and Mike (Autumn) Abbott. He has ten grandchildren, Wade Williamson, Kelly (Williamson Hopper, David Hopkins, Bret Abbott, Brad Abbott, Morgan and Tanner Abbott, Tristan Madison, and Sydney Abbott, and eight great grandchildren. He has three brothers, Dale (Hazel) Abbott, Glen (Ginger) Abbott, Gerald "Leroy" (Anita) Abbott, and a sister June Etter, and brother and sister in law, Glenn and Bess Hawley and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Emily Abbott and brother in law Eugene "Bud" Etter. He is a WWII US Army veteran and attended Zion Lutheran Church. Leonard served two terms on the board of directors for the Davenport Grange Supply Co., member of the American Legion Post 46, Mondovi Grange, served 18n years as a reserve office for Lincoln Co. Sheriff's office and taught hunter safety at the local gun club. He was a avid sportsman and enjoying hunting and fishing and was also a bowler on leagues in Davenport. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church 1007 Washington St. Davenport, WA with Pastor Jim Stern, officiating.
