Ronald Steve Bateman, 62, of Iredell, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013, in the Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013, in the Iredell First Baptist Church with burial following in the Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Steve was born in Meridian, Texas, to the late Bryan and Opal Cockrell Bateman. He was raised and educated in Iredell. Steve served in the Texas National Guard from 1970 to 1976. He worked on the Flat Top Ranch near Walnut Springs for many years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Bateman, Ben Bateman, Bert Bateman, and Butch Bateman; and sister, Dorothy Holub.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Jeff Shirley, of Cleburne, Angie Guldjord, of Hico, Terry Davis, of Iredell, Annie Wisdom, of Graham, Larry Bateman, of Weatheford; Starla Smith, Allen Holub, and Dorman Holub; brother-in-law, Lee Holub; and a number of other relatives and many friends. F13
