On June 18, 1902, he married Emma Lineville in Randolph County, Alabama. They became the parents of Era Elender (1904), Hicksey Flora (1907), Eula Mae (1912), J Tom (1915), Andrew Zeak (1919) and Lottie Emma (1925) Conger.
On October 20, 1961, John "Jonas" Jones Conger, age 80, died in Wedowee, Randolph County. Burial was in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Newell, Randolph County, Alabama.
