Medie Lou Reed Abney, 89 of Winchester, passed away on Tues., July 30, 2013 at the Richmond Health and Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Abney was born in Powell Co. On Jan. 13, 1924 to the late John Irvin and Barbara Ellen Watkins Reed. She worked for almost 20 years at Curlee Clothing and Hart, Shaffner, and Marx.

Survivors include her son, Donald (Nieves) Abney of Monks Corner, SC; 4 daughters, Barbara (Gerald) Tolson of Winchester, Mabel Smith of Winchester, Jonita Means of Winchester, and Pamela Fulton of Mt. Olivet; her daughter-in-law, Virginia Abney of Winchester; 9 grandchildren, Donna Abney, David Abney, Jerry Tolson, B.J. Means, Loujeana Adams, Sherri Adams, Christi Adams, Jesse Abney, Jr., and Scott Abney; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Jesse Abney and 2 grandsons, Donnie Abney, Jr. And Michael R. Bradley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 2 at Scobee Funeral Home by Rev. Paul Bates. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Tolson, Jeremy Tolson, Jason Tolson, Scott Abney, Jesse Abney, and Billy Pence.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1 at Scobee Funeral Home.
