Buddy was the youngest son of Lawrence Carl "Lon" Tucker and Mary Ellen Tyree, and the husband of (1) Marjorie Lee "Margie" Henry, and (2) Hazel Godwin. He and Margie had five children, and he had one child by Hazel. Five of his children survived his death.

As a young man, he worked in Washington, DC for a major airline company which transferred him and his family to California, and he remained there until his death. Later in life, he worked for many years as a long-distance tractor/trailer driver.

His family still remembers how he loved to sing and play his guitar... he was a crooner at heart.
