FUNERAL BENNIS B. BRADBURY IN ARCOLA

Arcola, Ill., Aug 1. -- Funeral services were held for Bennis B. Bradbury at ten o'clock today from the Methodist church, Rev. R.W. Ennis officiating. Burial was in the Arcola cemetery.

Mr. Bradbury died at his home on West Jefferson street Monday morning from the infirmities of age. He was born in London, England, on November 24, 1849, and came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bradbury, to the United States in 1851, coming to Douglas county a few years after the family had fist settled in northern Illinois. The family located on a farm south of this city.

Mr. Bradbury's father started the first grist mill ever operated in Douglas county, which at that time, 1859, was part of Coles county.

He continued the mill business with the assistance of his two sons until 1876, when he turned it over to the sons and retired. They continued the industry until 1882, when they sold it and embarked in the farm implement and coal business and continued it until five years ago, when they sold out and have since led retired lives, so far as business was concerned.

Mr. Bradbury married Alice P. Ashbrook in Arcola in May, 1872, and nine children were born to them. The children, who with their mother survive, are Glenna of DeKalb, Miss Fannie Bradbury of Arcola, Mrs. Maud Louthan of DeKalb, Ernest and Alfred of Arcola, Horton of Tuscola, Shirley of Minneapolis and William of Rochelle.

His brother, William, who is two years older, and his business associate from their early youth, also survives.
