Pauline Broyles Oliver, 89, of the Willie Boom area of Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, in Wellmont Hospice House.

She was a native of Morristown and had lived in Bristol most of her life.

She was a retired seamstress having worked at Sterling House for 33 years, retiring from Sunshine Cleaners.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, where she had been a member of the church choir for over 50 years, taught Sunday school for over 60 years and was past president of WMU.

She was the widow of Lester Oliver.

Survivors include one son, Doug Oliver, Overland Park, Kan.; four granddaughters, Mrs. Bruce (Carol) Green, Bristol, Tennessee, Mrs. Jeff (Deana) Taylor, Bluff City, and Katherine Oliver and Helene Oliver, both of Overland Park, Kan.; one great-grandson; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.

Funeral services for Pauline Broyles Oliver will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in Virginia Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Lethcoe and the Rev. Cass Farrior officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Glenwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Garland Thayer, James Thayer, Donald Thayer, Kyle Thayer, Ed Thayer, Bill Thayer, Eddie Lucas and members of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Smith. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Mark Green, Bristol, Tennessee; one son-in-law, Grady "Red" Smith and his wife, Sue; and two stepchildren, Robin and Brad Sorrow; and one step-great-grandson, Matthew Sorrow. The family will receive friends from 5-7:45 p.m. Thursday at the church. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge.
