His wife, Mary Mona Brent, died June 13, 1923 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He married Hassie Cannon the same year. They had one son, Irma Leon Mansfield, Jr. born June 24, 1924 and died June 10, 1926 in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
