Waldo French Speer, 82, of Tucson, Ariz. formerly of this area, died July 31, 1988 at this home of his daughter in Dunsmuir, Calif. Born October 13, 1905 in Zalma, Mo., he was one of 15 children and lived in Deering, Cottonwood Point and Caruthersville until leaving in 1941 when his family moved to Tucson. He worked as a switchman for Southern Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Speer of Tucson; One daughter, Mrs. Marita Chapman of Dunsmuir; One sister, Mrs. Ruth Frazelle of Keller, Texas; Four brothers, Linn Speer of Deering, Ale Speer of LaCrosse, Wis., Eugene Speer of Sikeston and Philip Speer of Tucson; Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held in Tucson.
