Abel - Charles Tate Abel, a Veteran of the U.S. Army who proudly served his country during WWII, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2007 of congestive heart failure at his daughter's home in Madisonville, LA surrounded by his loved ones.
He was the beloved father of Vicki Abel Torres, Gary Charles Abel, and the late Patricia Lynn Abel and Thomas Gernon Abel. Father-in-law of Lawerence J. Torres, Jr. He was the proud grandfather of Sheri Lynn Wright, Rebecca Marie Wright, Courtney Torres Zeller, Julie Alicia Torres, Christopher Lawrence Torres, Melissa Abel Ralls, Gina Elizabeth Abel, and Brian Howard Abel. He was also the great grandfather of Elizabeth Carol Paugh and Brinley Elizabeth Zeller.
Mr. Abel was a retired employee of the Illinois Central Railroad where he worked for 18 years and was also retired from the National Tea Componay/National Canal Villere where he served 30+ years as the Transportation Manager.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Monday July 9, 2007 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated in the Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow in Metairie Cemetery.
